Partnership with Wheatland County, Invest Alberta Corporation and the Government of Alberta to create 300+ local jobs and expand CGC presence in Western Canada.

CGC is building its most sustainable wallboard plant ever in Wheatland County, Alberta. The plant will create CGC gypsum wallboard and ready-mix joint compound. The plant will also provide warehousing for redistribution to all CGC Western Canadian customers and beyond.

Equipment and Process Innovations

- CGC’s first plant built using zero-waste approach—100% production waste recycled back into manufacturing process, nothing goes to landfill
- High-efficiency gas-fired kiln uses low energy to dry product, recovers evaporated water
- USG technology turns gypsum into stucco using lowest available embodied energy for calcining mill
- High-efficiency lighting throughout plant
Alternate and Renewable Energy

Producing eco-friendly materials in closer proximity to CGC customers to improve sustainability and provide even better, more convenient service at the same time.
- More wallboard product can be shipped to Western Canadian customers at once because of light-weight, slim-profile nature of Sheetrock® Brand EcoSmart Panels, reducing total transportation time and emissions to deliver more product
