With its direct access to the Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico and Mississippi River, Florida is a major hub for shipping goods across North America. That also makes it a great place for manufacturing, and more than 20,000 companies have factories in the state – including USG’s plant in Jacksonville.
The Jacksonville plant has been an important part of the Florida economy since 1939, and is a leader in safe, high-quality manufacturing. Recently, the First Coast Manufacturers Association (FCMA) and U.S. Senator Rick Scott chose our plant for a visit to promote the manufacturing industry in Florida.
“We have some of the best people in the industry,” says Lonnie Dyck, Jacksonville plant manager. “I’m so proud of everything our team does to work safely and make USG the absolute leader that it is."
Senator Scott agreed, “It’s exciting to be here as we celebrate manufacturing month and all the wonderful work done by Florida’s great manufacturers. USG has been a Florida manufacturer since 1939, and is a staple in the Jacksonville community. Florida’s incredible turnaround is possible thanks to great companies like USG, who are thriving and creating opportunities for Florida families.”
