November 5, 2019
USG is celebrating the 50th anniversary of our operations in Mexico, which began November 5, 1969 in Puebla. We were the first company to introduce modern drywall to the region, where the predominant building method used brick or concrete block and plaster. Our products helped create the future of faster, safer and more sustainable construction methods.
Today, Tablaroca® panels (Spanish for Sheetrock®) are a fundamental part of the country’s newest and most ambitious architecture, and there are more than 30,000 Tablaroqueros (professional installers and finishers) across the country.
Our CEO, Chris Griffin, kicked off the anniversary celebration during a recent trip to Mexico, where he spoke to employees and customers and celebrated the opening of the expanded Durock® cement board line in Monterrey.
The celebration will continue into 2020 as we honor the employees, customers and partners that have made USG an innovative leader in Mexico for half a century.
