If you spend even a few minutes in a USG plant or office, the word you’re most likely to hear is ‘safety’. Safety has been our first and most important core value since we were founded more than 118 years ago, a legacy that I’m honored to help carry on today.
We discuss safety before every shift. We review common tasks, so they don’t become rote or routine. We evaluate every process and procedure to find ways to make it even safer. But we don’t just talk about safety – we live our commitment. Our teams train often so they are ready to react to any emergency, on or off the manufacturing floor.
Just a few weeks ago, the team at our Galena Park, Tx., plant put their training into action as they responded to a colleague’s health crisis. Their dedication to safety saved a man’s life that day, and I could not be prouder of them.
In honor of National Safety Month, I’d like to share that story with you in a short video. To all of our employees, partners and customers, thank you for being part of our safety journey.
